The Canoo Lifestyle Vehicle is now remembered as much for its maker's collapse as for its bold design. Canoo, the US EV startup behind it, filed for bankruptcy in January 2025 after prolonged financial difficulties, ending production and availability of the distinctive boxy electric van and its planned cargo and pickup variants.

Realistic ownership cost for a Canoo Lifestyle Vehicle is impossible to assess sensibly, because the maker is bankrupt and the vehicle is unsupported. While the EV drivetrain itself is cheap to fuel, the dominant factors are all negative: no manufacturer warranty, no guaranteed parts supply, uncertain or unavailable service, software that may stop being supported, and a resale value that is hard to predict for an orphaned product.
