About Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara

The Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara is the car everyone was waiting for – the country’s biggest carmaker finally going fully electric. It is Maruti’s first EV for India, built on a dedicated born-electric platform, and it lands with the one thing that matters most from Maruti: aggressive pricing. At 15.99 lakh ex-showroom to start, it significantly undercuts the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV that shares its hardware.

There are two battery options. The 49 kWh pack is ARAI-rated at 440 km (around 350 km real-world) and makes 142 bhp, while the 61 kWh pack stretches to 543 km (roughly 420 km real-world) and makes 172 bhp. Both are front-wheel drive – Maruti is not offering the AllGrip-e all-wheel-drive version in India for now. Charging is quick enough for daily life: a DC fast charger does 10 to 80 percent in about 45 minutes, and a home charger fully tops up in around 6.5 hours.

Where the e-Vitara surprises is how complete it feels. You get a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating (and 4 stars from Euro NCAP), seven airbags, Level 2 ADAS, a 10.25-inch touchscreen and a 10.1-inch driver display. There is even a Battery-as-a-Service plan that drops the upfront price to 10.99 lakh with a per-km battery rental. Add Maruti’s unmatched service network and resale strength, and the e-Vitara becomes the default mainstream EV recommendation in India.

Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara range and performance

The e-Vitara comes with two front-wheel-drive powertrains. The 49 kWh pack is ARAI-rated at 440 km (around 350 km real-world) and makes 142 bhp; the 61 kWh pack stretches to 543 km (roughly 420 km real-world), makes 172 bhp and 192.5 Nm, and does 0-100 km/h in about 8.7 seconds.

There is no all-wheel-drive option in India, so all variants are FWD. Top speed is around 150 km/h. For most buyers the 61 kWh version is the one to pick, balancing range, performance and price - it comfortably handles city commuting plus regular weekend highway runs.

Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara safety overview

Safety is a headline strength. The e-Vitara holds a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, backed by a 4-star Euro NCAP result, with seven airbags, a Level 2 ADAS suite (adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking), a 360-degree camera, electronic stability program, hill hold and descent control, ISOFIX anchors and TPMS. For a first-generation Maruti EV, that is a comprehensive, segment-leading safety package.

Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara battery and charging guide

On a DC fast charger, the e-Vitara does 10 to 80 percent in about 45 minutes - a quick coffee stop on a longer drive. At home, an AC wall box gives a full 10 to 100 percent charge in around 6.5 hours, ideal overnight. The car uses the standard CCS-II connector and supports V2L for powering appliances. The optional Battery-as-a-Service plan changes how you pay for the battery, not how it charges.

Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara warranty details

Maruti offers the e-Vitara with a standard 3-year vehicle warranty (extendable) and a high-voltage battery warranty of 8 years or 1,60,000 km, in line with the segment. If you choose the Battery-as-a-Service plan, the battery is covered under the subscription terms instead of being owned outright. Confirm the latest warranty and BaaS details with your Maruti NEXA dealer at purchase.
