The Leapmotor B10 has quickly become one of the most talked-about affordable electric SUVs globally, and it is a strong candidate to come to India. The first model in Leapmotor's new 'B' series and the first on its LEAP 3.5 platform, the B10 has already gone on sale in China (from around 13,500 US dollars), Europe, Thailand and Malaysia, winning praise for its low price, long range and fast charging.

It offers 56.2 kWh and 67.1 kWh LFP batteries for up to roughly 600 km of CLTC range, a 177 or 215 hp rear motor, and a claimed 30 to 80 percent DC charge in about 20 minutes. Crucially, it is backed by Stellantis, which owns 51 percent of Leapmotor and is rolling its EVs out worldwide. An India launch has not been officially confirmed, but the B10 fits the market well and is widely expected to follow - so it is one to watch closely as Stellantis expands Leapmotor in Asia.

The Leapmotor B10 pairs strong range with sensible performance. Its 56.2 kWh and 67.1 kWh LFP batteries give up to roughly 510 and 600 km on China's CLTC cycle - meaningfully less on the stricter WLTP standard, and around 380 to 420 km in the real world for the bigger pack. The base motor makes 177 hp, while the stronger 215 hp version does 0-100 km/h in about 6.8 seconds, with a 170 km/h top speed.

It is rear-wheel drive only, which suits its relaxed, efficient character, and at around 15 to 16 kWh per 100 km it is easy on energy. For a compact SUV at this expected price, that blend of long range, decent pace and efficiency is genuinely competitive - the India-spec figures, if it launches, will be confirmed nearer launch.

The Leapmotor B10 is expected to come with a comprehensive safety package, including a Level 2 ADAS suite (adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and automatic emergency braking), blind spot detection, a 360-degree camera, multiple airbags and ISOFIX anchors, with a 5-star Euro NCAP rating the clear target (in line with the C10's strong result). As the B10 is not yet confirmed for India, the exact India-spec safety equipment and any local crash rating would be confirmed at launch. On global form, safety looks like a strength.

Charging is one of the B10's standout features. Thanks to its 400-volt architecture, Leapmotor claims a 30 to 80 percent DC fast charge in around 20 minutes for either battery - genuinely quick for an affordable compact SUV, and faster than many pricier rivals. It also supports AC home charging for overnight top-ups, and uses the safe LFP battery chemistry. The India-spec connector is expected to be CCS-II, with exact charging speeds confirmed if and when it launches here.

Warranty terms for the Leapmotor B10 in India would be confirmed at launch, but the Stellantis backing is a key advantage: the B10 is sold and serviced through established Stellantis networks in its current markets, which should mean more reliable warranty support, parts and service than a standalone new Chinese brand. Expect a competitive vehicle warranty plus a high-voltage battery warranty of around 8 years, with the official package confirmed nearer any India launch.

The Leapmotor B10 looks like a smart, value-packed compact electric SUV, and it would be a welcome arrival in India. It offers long range, very fast charging, a roomy modern cabin and Stellantis-backed support, all at a price that - in its current markets - sharply undercuts rivals. The 67.1 kWh version looks like the pick for range. The big caveat is that India is not officially confirmed, so the launch, price and specs are all expected rather than locked in. If Leapmotor and Stellantis bring it to India and price it keenly, the B10 could be one of the best-value compact EVs in the market. For now, it is firmly one to watch.

If it reaches India, the B10 would take on the BYD Atto 3, Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE 6 and Hyundai Creta Electric, with value, range and fast charging as its main weapons, plus the reassurance of Stellantis backing. Against its own bigger sibling, the Leapmotor C10, the B10 is smaller, cheaper and more city-friendly, while the C10 offers more space and an AWD option. Compared with established Indian EVs, the B10's pitch would be more range and faster charging for the money. In short: a strong value contender - but unlike its on-sale rivals, it is not yet confirmed for India.

Keep the Leapmotor B10 on your radar if you want an affordable, long-range, fast-charging compact electric SUV with Stellantis-backed support - the 67.1 kWh version looks like the one to target for range. But since an India launch is not yet confirmed, do not build firm plans around it: if you need an EV now, look at on-sale rivals like the BYD Atto 3, Tata Curvv EV or Hyundai Creta Electric, and revisit the B10 only if and when Leapmotor confirms it for India with official pricing and specs. It is a promising prospect rather than a current option.

On its global form, the B10 should be cheap to own. Its efficient LFP powertrain (around 15 to 16 kWh per 100 km) means low home-charging costs, far below petrol, and EV maintenance is minimal. The Stellantis connection is a real plus for ownership: established dealer and parts networks should make servicing more convenient and help protect resale value compared with a standalone new brand. As a fully electric car, the Leapmotor B10 would qualify for India's EV incentives if it launches, which vary by state - typically road-tax and registration-fee exemptions plus the green number plate, which can save a meaningful amount in this price range. Confirm the EV policy and any incentives applicable at the time of any India launch in your state, as these schemes change.

Like all EVs, the B10 should need little maintenance - no engine oil, no spark plugs and no complex transmission, with regenerative braking reducing brake wear. The standout advantage is support: because Leapmotor is sold and serviced through Stellantis's established networks in its markets, parts and qualified service should be more reliable than for a typical new Chinese brand. If the B10 reaches India, the exact service intervals and costs would be confirmed at launch, but well-supported, low-maintenance ownership is expected to be a selling point.
