Alfa Romeo's next-generation Giulia will, for the first time, be offered as a fully electric car - but the timeline and strategy have shifted. The new Giulia has been delayed and is now expected around 2028 (the current petrol model continues until about 2027), and Alfa has stepped back from going EV-only: the new car will come in mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid and full-electric forms. It moves to Stellantis's STLA Large platform, which can take 85-118 kWh batteries, targets a minimum of around 800 km range, and supports 800-volt ultra-rapid charging.

The most exciting talking point is a rumoured fully electric Giulia Quadrifoglio with up to 1,000 hp from a tri-motor setup; reports estimate it at around 83,000 dollars. Power is expected to span from roughly 350 hp (base) to near 800 hp (Veloce) to that 1,000 hp range-topper. Exact, confirmed figures will only come at launch, so treat today's numbers as credible estimates.

The electric Giulia is built on the STLA Large platform, which targets a minimum of around 800 km of range and supports very strong performance. Power is expected to span a wide range: about 350 hp for a rear-drive base car, near 800 hp for a Veloce, and a rumoured tri-motor Quadrifoglio EV with up to 1,000 hp, which could reach 0-100 km/h in roughly 2-3 seconds. The base car is estimated at around 5 seconds.

As an upcoming model, the electric Giulia has not been crash-tested, but it is expected to achieve a 5-star Euro NCAP rating and come with a full advanced driver-assistance suite - adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking and a 360-degree camera on higher trims - in line with modern Stellantis models. Full, confirmed safety specifications will be available once the production car is revealed.

The Giulia EV uses the STLA Large platform with an 800-volt architecture, which supports ultra-rapid DC charging - estimated at up to around 270 kW, enabling quick top-ups. For home charging, an 11 kW AC charger is expected (with up to 22 kW possible on the platform). It is expected to use the standard CCS connector in Europe.
